A Hoppy Visit at HPCC

Miso is a 10 month old flop-eared rabbit. Miso's owner, Rebecca, picked him out at a farm on Route 66 here in Oklahoma. Unlike most of the other bunnies Rebecca owned, Miso seemed skittish and really disliked being held. Rebecca was afraid that other people would overlook him due to his skittishness, so she decided to take him home. She made it her mission to make him feel safe and loved.

Miso spent many months hiding from Rebecca, but she didn't give up. She spent a lot of time sitting and laying on the floor in the same room, feeding him by hand, and allowing him to come near when he wanted. After some time, Miso warmed up to Rebecca. Rebecca shared, "It came to the point when I came home and he would charge across the room and greet me and allow me to pick him up!" Miso free roams and uses his litter box very well. Miso jumps on Rebecca's bed when it's time to wake up and give him fresh hay and greens!

Miso came to our clinic to get neutered. Miso's owner knew it was very important to neuter him, as Miso has a rabbit roommate named OY. Neutering often helps take away any territorial behavior in rabbits and it helps fellow rabbits bond. More importantly, neutering can greatly decrease the chance of cancer. Miso's neutering went great and he is doing well.
