Flea and Tick Prevention
What is a Fecal Transplant?
A first puppy visit to the veterinarian is an essential step in ensuring your new furry friend starts off on the right paw for a healthy life. Here is an overview of what typically happens during this initial visit at our clinic:
Puppy Exam
Our puppy visits begin with an overall wellness exam. Our veterinarians will complete a full physical exam on your puppy. We will work with your puppy to help them feel relaxed and desensitized to the exam process. We will assess your puppy’s unique needs. We will also provide a complimentary nail trim if needed.
Vaccinations
Depending on the age and previous vaccination history, our veterinarians will administer the first set of vaccinations to protect against common diseases such as the distemper/parvo vaccine and the rabies vaccine. The rabies vaccine is only given at the last puppy visit.
Lab Testing
Our puppy package includes a fecal intestinal parasite screening. Intestinal parasite screening involves analyzing a puppy’s stool sample to detect the presence of intestinal parasites, which can cause various health issues. Common parasites that affect puppies include roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, tapeworms, and protozoa like Giardia and coccidia.
You will be asked to collect a fresh stool sample from your puppy, ideally within 24 hours of the appointment. The sample should be stored in a clean, sealed container and kept cool if there's a delay in bringing it to the vet. If any parasites are detected, we will offer a free dewormer for your pup.
Puppy Pack
At the end of your visit, your pup will receive a puppy pack. Our puppy packs include a free sample of Heartworm prevention and a free sample of flea and tick prevention. Our pack also includes a free bag of treats, a toy, and some informational materials.
